Have you ever imagined what it would have been like to be drinking a tea and conversing with Karl Marx? Over the years society and its people have change so quickly with many obligations to worry about such as; having money to make it through a rough time. Some have sacrifice themselves by leaving back their countries of origins and their close ones without knowing when they will see them all due to the lack of resources. Some persons have to deal with painful jobs which hurt them physically and economically. Abused peasants need to unite to fight for an accurate treatment at work equitably to their capital due to the alliance formed by both to finalize their product.
In Marx’s literature the dialectical method is a triangle, in one corner it contains an idea, in another, intersecting point an opposing idea is found, and in the third point, a new idea arises. Marx also states, that the future is founded in communism, where workers need to help it come alive by their selections and their battles. Marx also believes that the future exist in the present. Karl says that the capital spends their time controlling its people and forgets that they have feelings due to the exposure of their ability to make the capital go higher in business. On top of this scene there is alienation of peasants and exploitation attached in these industries.
In the readings we encountered many methods of Marx, such as the exchange value. According to Marx, when an object of utility becomes use less to the owner which then forms into a good it becomes mandatory by another owner. In other words, the trading portion of this case occurs when another person requires the good that is being offered. In a case of a hard worker that is being exploited by its manager, the worker does not have an option of fighting back the boss for better pay when he does not have back up from his colleagues. This then pushes him to step back and keep working for a low paying position where he is working in a rough way. And in this case, this worker makes an exchange with capital through his hard labor and receives money.
Another example of exchange is when my mother sends money to my grandmother in Mexico. My mother is exchanging American money for my grandma’s well-being. My mother understands that her mother gets more money in Mexico than what is worth here. Yet, what she values is the conformity of my grandma’s well-being and having value to buy the goods she needs.
Furthermore, this method also applies in my volunteer acts for two years in a youth group. A lot of time was driven out of my life to be taking care of young adults at my parish, but in return I did not get money, but knowledge about the actions of teens and love from them. It was my choice to be there and help, yet I was in need of something in my life which then got fulfilled in this scenario. I didn’t know of this need, fetishism, the hidden value that I now discovered through Marx.
In the picture found at the top of this document one is able to define how exchange value should be receive with great appreciation and love by the one exchanging to. Although, it is not the case for the workers in many jobs today, employees work long hours but are not happy with the pay. This action breaks the theory that Marx composed and loses meaning being that the exchangers are not content. Therefore, making it hard for several individuals to attain a heart fulfill of happiness in their lives.
To conclude, even though Marx introduces individuals’ methods to find the future in their present, many are not able to attain it do to their actions and struggles. In order to attain equal treatment employees need to unite together and fight for their rights. They need to stand up and face their capital so that their future turns into a better picture.
